Freedom Quote

Open CRS
American taxpayers spend nearly $100 million a year to fund the Congressional Research Service, a "think tank" that provides reports to members of Congress on a variety of topics relevant to current political events. Yet, these reports are not made available to the public in a way that they can be easily obtained. A project of the Center for Democracy & Technology, Open CRS provides citizens access to CRS Reports that are already in the public domain and encourages Congress to provide public access to all CRS Reports.

GovTrack
Transparency in government is key for a healthy democracy. Transparency is achieved through spreading information about government, and making that information accessible to everyday citizens. GovTrack.us — a 2006 Webby Award nominee mentioned in both The New York Times and The Washington Post — fills that role at the federal level by bringing together legislative data from existing government sources and presenting it in a more user-friendly format, and by providing the ability to track legislative events as they happen via email updates and RSS/Atom feeds. GovTrack is unique in providing its services for free and targeting the politically interested, civic-minded average Joe.
